Pictures tell so much about who you were and of what used to be. The old adage, "a picture says a thousand words" not only is accurate, but in the transformation from adolescence to adulthood they remind me who I am and what I hope to become. A picture says a thousand words and an album tells a story.
When my Macbook crashed on New Years Eve, I was scared as shit that I lost all of my pictures. All of my pictures from High School, college and post-graduate life were gone. Pictures of places that are no more (Freize building in Ann Arbor, the old Cass Tech in Detroit) of memories and times in my life and of people who are no longer in my life vanished into thin air.
Although I'm not really a big birthday celebrator anymore, the lost pictures of old birthday parties and presents, the faces and the memories of what once was got to me and clouded the celebration of the 24th birthday.
And then I remembered that I saved my pictures in multiple locations.
